Suzi McCall is a foster mom with Save-a-Pet, a non-profit organization based in Dothan. The rescue funds all of the food, formula, medication and vet visits for the animals, making sure they are spayed and neutered before being put up for adoption.John Wayne Bagwell, age 68, of Slocomb, AL passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home in Madrid, AL. He was born March 29, 1948. John Wayne was an avid collector of "hot-rods" cars, loved going to car shows, especially every year to Auto Rama in Detroit, MI as a child. He enjoyed, with his family, Swap Meets at Freedom Hill, and he was crazy about his motorcycles. He enjoyed many vacations with his family, and had a special love for the Smokey Mountains. He enjoyed entertaining and loved to sing, he also loved a good word search puzzle. He loved his family and his very special dog Hoover. John Wayne was also a member of Pipefitters Local 636 Union. He graduated in 1966 from Detroit High School in Detroit, Michigan and was a journeymen pipefitter for over 30 years. He will be loved and missed very much. John Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Shirley Bagwell, father, John Robert Bagwell, grandson, Tyler Bagwell He is survived by three children, daughter, Stacy Bagwell Firu; sons, Jonathan Robert (Krystin) Bagwell and Jayson Wayne Bagwell; grandchildren, Malin, Roman, Jayden, Sarah and Vanessa. A Celebration of John Wayne's life will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home, 507 West Main Street, Hartford, Alabama 36344, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, 11:00 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to service. Charlie Douglas Griffin, age 69, of Dothan, AL passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his residence. A service of remembrance celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 11 A.M. from Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Seale officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time from 10 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Mr. Griffin was born on April 17, 1947 in Dothan, Alabama. He was the only child born to Harold Douglas Griffin and Mary Lou Waites. Doug was retired from Farley nuclear Plant and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family. He also spent time on his farm in Geneva County where he liked to fish and raised cattle in the past. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Barnett Griffin and parents, Harold and Mary Lou Griffin; and is survived by his two daughters: Chera Griffin Lee (Stuart) and Nicole Griffin Wiley both of Dothan. Grandchildren: Griffin Bryce Ammons, Mary Lawrence Lee, and Edgar "Douglas" Lee all of Dothan. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to: Save a Pet, at P.O. Box 9323, Dothan, AL 36304.
