Facts You Need To Know About Pet Urine In Your Carpeting:
Call – Chem-Dry of Bloomington pet urine odor removal service eliminates harmful urine stains on carpet, area rugs and furniture.
Nothing's worse than the smell of pet urine in your carpet & upholstery. It penetrates the fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet and flooring material as well. If you have ever tried cleaning and removing it yourself, you know it's quite the challenge to completely clean-up & remove using standard commercial cleaning products.
Some DIY remedies for dog urine odor removal that I have read, advocate using hydrogen peroxide at this point but I have never found this necessary.
If you act quickly, the vinegar followed by baking soda should be sufficient. So if you want to leave out this step, go onto step 4 (below).
However, if you do want to use the hydrogen peroxide, make sure you only ever use 3% solution and that you always check for color-fastness on an inconspicuous area first as it could bleach the fibers of the carpet, leaving a permanent light patch as a reminder of the accident!
Mix around half a cup of the hydrogen peroxide with about a teaspoon of ordinary washing up liquid that you use for hand washing dishes in the sink - do NOT use dish washing machine detergent!
You will probably find it easier to put your hydrogen peroxide/washing up liquid mixture into a spray bottle for the next step to avoid over-wetting.
Spray onto the baking soda and work this into the carpet with an old, soft toothbrush.
Leave to dry completely.

Urine Contaminated Carpet & Pad
There are two key components to treating pet urine – eliminating the odor and removing the stain often caused by urine.
Using a special product designed for pet urine, the affected area is thoroughly saturated and the water extracted using a tool called the water claw. The area is repeatedly rinsed to flush the urine residue from the carpet fiber, backing and padding below. Next hydrocide is applied to treat and disinfect the area. Hydrocide works by producing enzymes to cut through and digest extreme odors. This step binds and neutralizes the odor on a permanent basis.
Once the odor is treated and removed, any remaining stain is tackled. A specialized urine stain remover is applied and the carpet is cleaned using standard hot steam extraction. Urine deposited on carpet does not stay on the surface. It also penetrates the fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet and the flooring material below the carpet. Often, without your knowledge, pets will urinate continually in the same general location, causing significant contamination and damage.
UV LED Black Light - Under the ultraviolet light of a black light, dried urine crystals are easy to see. This allows us to locate the exact source of the odor and treat it more effectively.
Moisture Pro – A moisture meter allows us to find the exact location of the accident and determine how far the urine has spread. Since urine contains a substantial amount of salt, and salt retains moisture, the carpet and/or padding may remain moist long after it feels dry to the touch. Urine deposited on carpet does not stay there, it penetrates the fibers and contaminates both the backing of the carpet and the flooring material below the carpet. Often, without your knowing, pets will urinate continually in the same general location. Urine odors can permeate from the floor, be it cement or wood, from the tack strip, and even from the framework of the house behind the walls.
