Builds the foundation of reliable obedience commands like sit, leave it, coming when called and walking nicely on a leash
More than just an obedience school, the Twin Cities Obedience Training Club is an actual club. Membership in this non-profit organization entitles you to classes, social events, seminars and play groups. Licensed by the American Kennel Club, TCOTC provides the largest variety of classes in the state. Aside from basic training, you can sign your dog up for a public manners class, one that focuses on tricks or one that is designed specifically for your dog’s age and breed. TCOTC holds classes for competing dogs to help them prepare for a show and perform in the ring. Do you want help finding missing items? TCOTC provides classes for scent training as well. Volunteers are always needed if you want to be more involved.
No doubt you’re getting out while the weather’s nice and probably bringing your pooch along for a walk. However, dogs can be temperamental and may make your stroll more difficult. If your dog is misbehaving, an obedience school may be the best way to curb bad dog behavior. With the increasing amount of dog lovers and owners in Minnesota, there are many fabulous options for obedience schools. Check your dog into one of these schools. Who knows? He may wind up being the teacher’s pet.
Dog Training: Puppy and Adult Dog Training Classes | PetSmart
Dog training at PetSmart includes classes for all levels and ages
Whether your dog is calm or high-energy, small or large, young or old, you can find a family dog training class that will fit your pet and your schedule. Our customized dog training classes will transform even the most stubborn canine into a friendly and obedient companion. Our mission is to make sure your dog has the skills to be a valued member of your family. "What are your teaching credentials?" Some instructors are certified by the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors, and some may be members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Some may have attended classes at National K-9 Dog Training School in Columbus. Some instructors attend seminars on dog behavior and training methods. Some have competed in obedience trials and may have achieved many titles on their dogs; however, expertise in training for obedience titles is not necessarily the same as skill in helping pet owners teach Sassy to quit begging at the table or encourage Rambo to be less domineering. Unfortunately, there is no requirement that instructors at obedience schools or businesses know how to train a dog to be a well-mannered pet, so just about anyone can throw a few mats on the floor, print up some flyers, and claim to be a dog trainer. If you find that obedience school doesn't fit your lifestyle but you still need help from a pro, many professional dog trainers will come to your home and work with you and your dog one-on-one. Some training programs offered by major pet store chains also offer private training classes that fit more easily into your schedule.
