The event features round-the-clock entertainment starting with an appearance by Burnie, The Miami Heat’s mascot, who will be onsite to warm-up potential adopters on Friday night from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The celebration and pet adoptions continue into Saturday with music, a pet themed movie on the lawn and a special appearance by the Miami HEAT DANCERS as well as Billy the Marlin and the Miami Marlins Energy Team. Other highlights include a bounce house, rock climbing wall, and story time for kids. There will also be a variety of food vendors including food truck favorites.
The two biggest sources of adoptable pets are Miami-Dade Animal Services, which operates a shelter in Doral, and the Humane Society of Greater Miami, which operates an adoption center in North Miami Beach.

The ASPCA® Mega Match-a-thon presented by Subaru is part of large-scale adoption events held nationwide in October in an effort to save the lives of more shelter animals.On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 the new Miami-Dade County Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center celebrates the first-year anniversary of its move to the new building located at 3599 NW 79 Avenue in Doral, FL 33122. The Miami Pets app offers information about low cost spay/neuter services, lost and found, dog license tags, general contact information, events calendar and the latest Animal Services news releases. There’s also a directory of dog parks, veterinarians, pet friendly hotels and neighborhood pet adoption centers. A special postcard feature lets users photograph their pets and frame them in an email postcard to send right from their smartphones.
