Fortunately, the compound is not poisonous. The biggest concern is that it simply tastes really bad, but there is another risk. Some of the larger glow sticks can also contain a small glass vial that, when snapped to activate, makes the stick light up. Although pets usually stop biting or chewing the glow sticks as soon as they taste the bitter substance, it is good to be aware that your pet may have ingested some fragments if she actually does break the stick. In that case, the recommendation is to bulk up the diet with bread, canned pumpkin, etc., and watch for signs of bloody or blood in the stool.
The same goes for your family, pets, and livestock. If the kids are playing in the backyard, near the chicken coop, and happen upon a Nite Guard Solar light, no harm will come to them for being curious.
And “The Secret Life of Pets” is a light comedic romp.

On Monday evenings all across the globe we light candles in memory of ourpets who have gone on to Rainbow Bridge. It is a very healing ritual with no adherence to any religion orcreed, just a simple lighting of candles to bring us all together. While there is an on-line Ceremony in our Chat Room every Monday, the Candle Ceremony does not have to be done on-line. Each of us can light our candlesin our own way, and privately, but since we share a common love and sincemost of us do light them at the same time, we are joined in love and inspirit.
Candle lighting times are... In USA: 10 PM Eastern 9 PM Central 8 PM Mountain 7 PM Pacific 6 PM Alaska 5 PM Hawaii
Sunlight is also necessary to produce serotonin. Low levels of this neurotransmitter are associated with aggressive behavior and anxiety. Serotonin is made in the brain and the intestines. It's commonly thought of as the "feel good" substance; it's serotonin that gives people and pets a pleasurable feeling after exposure to sunlight and also certain foods. When pets are not receiving adequate amounts of sunlight, they may seek to compensate the lowered amount of serotonin by eating more, as previously mentioned. Sunlight affects two key compounds: melatonin and serotonin, both of which provide specific support to the body. Melatonin, a hormone, regulates sleep cycles and is produced by the pet's pineal gland which is located in the brain. This gland is light-sensitive, so the production of melatonin is actually inhibited when sunlight hits the retina. When a pet is not exposed to direct sunlight, more melatonin is produced and feelings of sleepiness or lethargy can develop. Pets may then lose interest in their favorite pastimes and may shun activities that they once enjoyed. Max Marvin developed a holistic and natural way to allow pets to gain the benefits of sunlight, when weather conditions do not allow them to experience it outside. He founded Pawsitive Lighting to combat the symptoms of light deprivation that pets may develop. Max created the first light therapy box made specifically for pets. And since he's a pet owner himself, he designed the Sol Box with style, portability, and of course, effectiveness in mind.
