Some airlines allow small pets in the cabin of the plane, if they're in a carry-on kennel or approved carrier that fits under a passenger seat; standard carry-on baggage restrictions must be followed. Usually, these flights need to be less than six hours. Animals other than dogs or cats may not be allowed--airlines have very specific regulations--and odor or noise disturbance can get a pet and passenger removed from the plane before take-off. Pets must remain in their carrying case for the duration of the flight. Most airlines allow one pet per passenger and two pets per cabin, though American Airlines allows two per passenger and seven per flight, so again, be sure to check individual rules. The maximum size for cabin pet carriers on American Airlines is 19 inches long by 13 inches wide and 9 inches high. Soft-sided pet carriers made of water-repellent, padded nylon with mesh ventilation on two or more sides may exceed size limits slightly because they are collapsible, but animals must still be able to stand up, turn around and lie down naturally. Pet kennels are counted as a passenger's carry-on bag or personal item, and a cabin pet charge is added the cost of the plane ticket.
To protect the joy of driving with pets, we put Sleepypod dog harnesses and pet carriers through stringent safety tests to include static material tensile testing and dynamic crash testing at the standard set for child safety restraints.

Sherpa™ is the carrier source for pets on the go! This exceptional brand features a collection of comfortable, durable soft pet carriers. From our best-selling Sherpa pet carrier to our exclusive and pet carriers - we have pet carriers for every breed of small dog and cats. Sherpa carriers were the first soft-sided pet carrier to be endorsed by major airlines and continue to be the industry standard for pet carriers. The first thing you want to do is introduce the pet carrier to your dog in the least shocking way possible. So place the carrier on the floor of your living room, bedroom, or another room your dog spends a lot of time. With the carrier’s door open, let your pet explore without hovering over him. Let the carrier sit open on the floor for a few days.Training dogs to stay in the carrier can either go very smoothly or they’ll scratch and cry to get out until you unzip the bag and let them free. That’s why it’s important to introduce your dog to the pet carrier in a friendly, non-intimidating way! Here are some tips to make the carrier experience easier on your dog (and you):Some pet handbags may be suitable for dogs 10 – 15 lbs, but I suggest careful measurement and study before buying one of these dog carrier purses for a 10 – 15 lb dog.
