Greater Birmingham Humane Society will join over 1,250 other animal shelters and rescue groups nationwide in taking the pledge to not euthanize any savable animals on June 11.
“Just One Day is a chance for us to shine a spotlight on the problems of pet overpopulation and pet abandonment that bring so many animals into shelters,” Cornelius said. “It is also a chance for us to showcase the animals that are often overlooked in a shelter environment, like older pets and black dogs and cats. Greater Birmingham Humane Society is an open admission animal shelter and we will never turn a pet away, regardless of its age, breed, health, or any other factor. On June 11, we hope to draw attention to the many pets with wonderful personalities that are often overlooked simply because they are older, mixed breed, or plainer looking.”
