While we do take some owner surrenders on a case by case basis,we intake most of our animals from local metro Atlanta (kill shelters) Animal Controls. Shelter animals are not broken. They have simply experienced more life than than other pets. If they were human, we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write........ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Don't pity a shelter animal. Adopt one ! And be proud to have their greatness by your side.

We take a holistic approach to improving the standard of care for animals in Atlanta through our management of the county shelters, adoption programs, spay and neuter clinics and community outreach efforts.Since 2004, Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue has been working to reduce the number of animals euthanized at local shelters in metro Atlanta. We work closely with animal control officers to save adoptable dogs that are often moments away from being put to sleep. Often, these dogs are sick and injured and require rehabilitation. Mostly Mutts provides housing, health care, training, and physical and emotional care to them until they can be placed in a new home. We hold weekly adoption events at our facility in downtown Kennesaw to help each dog find their “fur-ever home.”The Animal Services Division is managed by a non-profit organization whose programs strengthen the entire animal welfare community by promoting homeless pet adoption, providing affordable spay/neuter services, increasing public awareness, and advocating for lifesaving public policy. The animal services division provides humane care for the animals at the shelter, veterinary care including spay/neuters, pet adoptions, animal reclaims, volunteers, foster homes and rescue group coordination. Since taking over management of DeKalb County Animal Services (DCAS) and Fulton County Animal Services in 2013, thousands of lives have been saved and adoptions have been increased by 300% at DCAS alone.
