San Antonio Animal Care Services has dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens for adoption. Adopt a pet in San Antonio, TX.
People in San Antonio are all too aware of what used to go on in the very place where the new adoption center stands. It's where the former municipal shelter sat for decades. Lisa says, "When you consider the antiquated practices the shelter was known for, it wasn't so much of a shelter." For a long time, nine out of 10 animals entering the shelter were killed. Those days are over.
The new Paul Jolly Center for Pet Adoptions is located in the much-loved Brackenridge Park, a destination for people from all over San Antonio. It's a true community resource. There's space for more than 80 pets available for adoption, a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, and a pavilion for classes, adoptions and other events. Lisa describes it as "a place folks can go to adopt a pet and learn about being a responsible pet owner." Since the first 29 animals went home from the new center on opening day in October, there's a feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning for San Antonio's animals.

Paws Ranch Rescue and Animal sanctuary 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (PRRAS for short) that got its start in 2010 thanks to a publicly voted grant from Pepsi. We exist solely on grants, donations, and the help of our dedicated volunteers. Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home or provide sanctuary to as many pets as possible. Hundreds of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals have already been saved by PRRAS. Hundreds of healthy adoptable pets picked up by animal control services (ACS) are euthanized every month! We at PRRAS along with the Alamo Area partnership for animal welfare (AAPAW) and other local rescues are striving to make San Antonio a truly NO KILL city. You can help by getting involved. Adopt a less adoptable pet, foster a pet, sponsor a special needs animal, become a volunteer, donate funds, pet supplies, or food, educate friends and neighbors about the stray pet problem, spay and neutering, and encourage them to adopt instead of breeding or buying. Together we can reach our goal of a Real No Kill City! When you adopt a pet from a shelter or other rescue organization, you save a life.
